As a jeweler who has worked in the past primarily with beads and wire, I have recently added felt and fine silver to my repertoire. I enjoy all forms of off-loom bead weaving, but have now fallen under the spell of hand felting. I use both dry and wet felting techniques. I have always loved the feel of beads as well as the extraordinary range of their colors and textures and now exalt in combining with beads the textures and subtlety of felt. There is an amazing array of wool and silk in marvelous colors with which to work. With felt, I can make bold, colorful pieces, without the sense of weight that beads and metal alone might normally produce. I use fine silver to "cap" my pieces, and continue to experiment with melding beads, felt and silver in new ways.
